GiveBackAmerica

FAQ's

What is GiveBackAmerica.com (GBA)?

GBA is an online shopping mall that was created to raise money for charities. Retailers, such as Expedia.com & Target.com, pay GBA a commission to refer customers to their site. GBA takes the commission from the retailer and shares 60% with the charity of your choice.

Do I pay extra to shop through the GBA mall?

NO! There are no additional costs to the shopper for using our service. The retailers have agreed to pay GBA a commission for every customer we refer and in turn GBA passes along 60% of that commission to your selected charity. There are NO ADDITIONAL COSTS!

When will the charities receive the donations?

Typically, commissions made through GBA are recorded within 24 hours of a customer purchase. However, it can take 30-90 days for GBA to receive commission payments from retailers. As soon as GBA accrues $15 in commission payments from retailers, we issue checks to our charity partners. If we receive payments of greater than $15 we send the entire amount. Our system assures we are getting much needed commissions to our charity partners in the quickest way possible. Upon request, GBA will payout accrued commissions under $15.

How can I be assured that the selected charities are receiving the proper commission?

GBA provides a copy of all records, receipts and all GBA corporate documents to each selected charity to do their own independent audits.

If I forget to purchase through GBA and go directly to the retailer's web page, can the charities still receive their donation?

In order to earn a commission for online shopping you must start at GBA. That is the only was GBA can accurately track your shopping and reward your charity.

How Does GBA fund its operations?

Retailers pay GiveBackAmerica.com a commission for each purchase referred through www.GiveBackAmerica.com. GiveBackAmerica.com pays out 60% of total revenue to charities thereafter. We note, GiveBackAmerica.com pays out 100% of commission listed on the shopping mall. GiveBackAmerica.com reserves the right to increase charity payouts depending on success and participation in our program. GiveBackAmerica.com pledges never to payout less than 60% of commission, no matter the circumstances. GiveBackAmerica.com pledges (upon request) to provide quarterly accounting statements detailing sales commissions.

Is there a list of amounts donated to specific charities?

Yes, we have an updated list. Click here.

I don't think I am getting credit for a purchase I made?

GiveBackAmerica is able to pay commissions on sales that are credited for. If a shopper leaves a page, or starts a new search while shopping, that may result in a new session. In this case the tracking would be from a new page and therefore, credit for a sale may not be earned. Other reasons for credit not being received may be that the item itself was not a qualifiable item. Retailers determine what they will credit commissions for. Gift Cards, for example, are not always considered a qualifying purchase. If you have made a purchase that you feel you would like GBA to look into, feel free to email us at info@givebackamerica.com and we will gladly research it for you.

What is the best way for my charity to raise funds?

Our most successful fundraisers share our partnership with their supporters by mentioning us on Facebook, Twitter or other Social Media. They also include our links & banners on their website, newsletters & emails. Sharing our partnership with corporate partners has also proven to be successful. Specifically, ordering office supplies and/or booking travel each month has been the most successful way for charities to raise money.

My charity is listed on GiveBackAmerica and my supporters would like to know if the items they purchased are being tracked. How can we tell?

GiveBackAmerica was designed to be a non intrusive system with no registration or log in required. We respect the right to privacy when individuals shop and we wanted to make sure the experience was quick and easy. Once a supporter purchases an item from one of our affiliate partners we will be notified within a few days on commissionable items. 80% of all items are commissionable (items like gift certificates, certain electronics, etc. are sometimes not included). A few retailers pay on a first time user basis. As soon as we get a credit, commissions will automatically be updated on each charity mall page (typically once a week). Payments are made out to the charity within 30-90 days. This time period follows the store policies for returns/exchanges. GBA currently pays a charity when they accrue $15 or more. If you wish to confirm a specific transaction you can email kevin@givebackamerica.com.

To select a different charity, simply go to GiveBackAmerica.com, login to your account by clicking on the login link at the top right of the GBA homepage, enter your email & password, click on "my account" at the top right of the page which will take you to a page where you can list a new default charity.

A sample of those stores is as follows: Walmart, National Geographic, Hotels.com, Groupon, The Wedding Channel, Weight Watchers & iTunes. You will be able to fundraise for your charity at these stores if you click on the store link from our charity mall.

Why do Amazon & Target appear as buttons on the toolbar?

Due to the special relationships that we have with these retailers, we have created an easy way to directly shop at these stores.
